Our Story
Hi! My name is Lara and I am the founder of Stinky Bunny. When I was 19 weeks pregnant and found out we were expecting a girl, I immediately began shopping for anything and everything adorable and was horrified to find how expensive baby things were. On a hormone high, I actually spent over $20 on a single headband. Guess what... my daughter has worn it twice! Soon after that purchase I began searching for fun fashion for less! It was disappointing to find out how difficult it was to get affordable options in Canada. I have always been a fashion lover so it was frustrating to not have accessible and affordable options for my daughter to be. My husband and I half joked that we should go into the fashion biz so we could make it affordable but we didn’t do anything about it at the time.
While pregnant, I was the woman who swore I’d go back to work ASAP and even planned on sharing paternity leave with my husband. Unfortunately, when my daughter was a born, a health scare sidelined my husband for over 3 months so he was at home with me and our new daughter. This meant he wasn’t going to be able to take additional time off for paternity leave so I mentally prepared to have the full year off. A few months later, it became apparent that I wasn’t ready to go back to the daily grind of my oil & gas job. I was really enjoying being a mom and couldn’t fathom leaving my daughter to go back to a job I was no longer passionate about. While brainstorming ways to make additional income I decided to take the leap and turn my consulting business into a Children’s Fashion Company. Within a matter of weeks, Stinky Bunny was an online boutique with more product lines than I had even dreamed of!
To say Stinky Bunny is a labour of love would be an understatement! I have handpicked every item and selected every colour and combination. I built the website and I do my own photography, marketing and product write-ups. I don’t sell anything I wouldn’t put on my own children and I do everything I can to keep the prices as low as possible. Having affordable options is paramount to raising a little fashionista without breaking the bank. My shopping motto has always been "if you find something you love, buy it in every colour" and I'm hoping Stinky Bunny helps you do just that!
